After 20 years in use, the ertacetyl bushings and aluminmum  posts required replacement.

Rudder parts are pictured here, and are explained in English in the table below. 

Installation

Not sure yet which lubricants, compounds or sealants shoulld be used upon reassembly.

Materials

Ertacetyl is the mitsubishi trade name for acetyl plastic, one variant of which, homopolymer acetyl, is sold as Delrin. Here's an explanation:

(This material also appears in Hydroem’s cylinders, in that case the copolymer version.)

Cabin Door Hooks

Ordering 2 of these cast 316 SS units.  Looks like they are of decent quality.

Hanging locker Rod Supports

 Plastic support fittings failing, broken.

Rods are 13mm diameter.

New parts made from scrap acrylic

Alubat pushbutton door catches.   

The small vertical door in the owners' cabin is missing both of its latches, and the closet door in the port side aft cabin requires a few tries to get it to latch.  Annoying.  Need some spares.

What I thought was an esoteric French yacht piece, appears to be a standard RV pattern.  Trying this cheap part on Amazon

Shelf Supports

The tiny plastic shelf supports behind the galley stove have crumbled, as, I believe, have those in the fridge.   Substandard  arrangement really.   I'll bring some pre-drilled strips of white acrylic or starboard to replace.

Refit: Feb. 2023 Survey Findings and Progress

SAKURA Refit Progress against Survey recommendations as at 2/20/2024

A1 Keel/Rudder - repair hydraulic system. ***RECTIFIED***

• Centreboard hydraulics control raising of the centreboard, but when switched to lowering mode, boards  descends freely.  March 3-6, 2023 - Fuse in keel pump is in working order.  Pump lubricated, pivot pins replaced. Now operates freely and smoothly.   Centreboard cylinder was rebuilt, new, spare aboard.   See also rudder operation, item A12.    Both rudder and centreboard have all new delrin bushings, stainless and alu axles/pins, and new or rebuilt hydraulic cylinders, entire system inspected and renewed.   Hydraulic system was flushed and bled and the correct fluid was used.  Spares aboard.

A2 Thru Hull depth sounder leak  ***RECTIFIED***

• Per surveyor - Sender identified as leaking was replaced with DST810, 3M 5200.    May 2024

A3 Dripless prop shaft seal leak  ***RECTIFIED***

• March 2023 - The Volvo shaft seal must be "burped" and greased after periods of disuse. It is accessible from the SS aft cabin.   This was not done prior to survey.  Spare shaft seal purchased and on board.  See also C9.

A4 Extinguisher Cert
A5 Expired Flares     Paines-Wessex mk8 pinpoint,($50/3)  Mk8A parachute ($127/3), MK9 smoke ($50ea)  or 3 pack orion smoke

A6 Fixed fire suppression cert.
A7 Life Raft Cert.

• A4-A7 These were purchased new in 2019.  To be updated prior to launch or sea trial sept 2024.

A8 First Aid kit ***RECTIFIED***

• March 3-6, 2023 This was not found during survey, but was aboard.  Very Comprehensive first aid kit in added and now aboard, second kit in ditch bag.  Requires updated drugs. (prior to launch)

 A9 Smoke Detector  ***RECTIFIED***

• Installed June 2023. 

A 10 Ditch Bag contents not adequate ***RECTIFIED ***

• requires only flares, food, water. prior to launch

A 11 Portside bilge Pump not working   ***RECTIFIED***

• March 3-6 2023. Repaired. This is a new pump that had been incorrectly wired by the prior owner.  A replacement pump, plus 3 rebuild kits are now aboard.   improved strum boxes have been installed and limber holes have been cleared of debris.  

A 12 Rudder Hydraulics Leaking  *** RECTIFIED***

• May 2024 Rudder cylinder replaced with new, system purged and bled, now functioning perfectly.   Both rudder and centreboard have been completely rebuilt with new delrin bushings, stainless and alu axles/pins, and new hydraulic cylinders.   System was flushed and bled and the correct fluid was used, pump inspected cleaned and worn parts replaced.    

A 13 Replace gas lines.  ****RECTIFIED***

• Gas lines, regulator, tanks and range replaced June 2023.  See also C8.

B1Replace Keel box anodes   ****RECTIFIED***

• May 2024. Keel box anodes were owner-added and are not advised per the factory.   These and any traces of stainless steel fastenings were removed.  

B2Bilge corrosion cleaned, Mag anodes in water tank.  ***RECTIFIED***

• March 3-6, 2023. Stbd tank cleaned, mag anodes purchased, corrosion removed from sump areas identified in survey.
• June 2023 - tanks cleaned, anodes installed.  
• bilges scrubbed and inspected from bow to stern, June 2023.

B3 Straighten anchor platform  ***RECTIFIED***

• Anchor platform straightened, Selden sprit, the likely cause of the damage to the anchor platform, has been replaced with the correct OEM bowsprit fitting. This is vastly superior in design and construction. Bent anchor roller shaft has been replaced as has worn anchor roller.  Area was primed painted and assembly greased and reinstalled May 2024.

B4 Head sink drain hose kinked  ****RECTIFIED***

·        Replaced with MPI series 110 soft wall hose.

B5 Hydro generator cable slack  ***RECTIFIED***

• Hydrogenerator cable is 6'6" and shold be replaced with one 12" longer.  However while doing work it was noticed that the unit's mounting bracked had been bent, and a stop-pin broken.   Hydro Generator has been removed pending investigation of repairs.

B6 Corrosion at steering pedestal base

• Investigate and clean Sept  2024.

B7 Antifouling Paint

• To be completed by hard after rudder, centreboard completion May 2024. 

B8 Cutlass bearing - monitor   

B9 Chafe protection at cable exit on mast  ***RECTIFIED***

• Corrugated trunking installed to protect all cables May 2024.

B10 Halyard Chafe  ***RECTIFIED***

• All new lines are aboard but will be rove only prior to launch. 

C1 Exterior paint

C2 Hull dent
C3 Deck hatches some crazing  ***RECTIFIED***

• Deck hatches reglazed and hardware renewed, sunbrella hatch covers made and installed.

C4 Windows, possible leak   ***RECTIFIED***  

C5 Stanchions Bent  ****RECTIFIED***

• March 3-6, 2023 Stanchions were inspected and straightened, bent units replaced with new, spares aboard as well.   New lifelines being made by Curacao rigging.

C6 Check cabin heat

• Heater disconnected Oct 2023, to be relocated. 

C7 Refrigeration running irregularly ***RECTIFIED***

• March 2023 -Condition identified in survey is a consistent with operation of seawater-cooled refrigeration, operating out of water, correct operation verifed, tested with 2 weeks' use..  

C8 range  - Service and repair   ***RECTIFIED***

C9 Engine- Service   ***RECTIFIED***

• Service competed, mixing elbow replaced March 2024.  See also A3.  

C10 Engine RPM topped at 2450. ***RECTIFIED***

C11, C12 Shore Power Ground isolation ***RECTIFIED***

• March 2023 Inlet replaced with new, correctly configured Hubbell unit.
• Victron 3600VA automatic isolation transformer installed Oct 2023.

C13 (same as B2) clean tanks, Mag anode installed   ***RECTIFIED***

• Replaceable magnesium anodes installed, spares aboard.  

C14 Radar

• Likely minor configuration/software issue.  Update firmware and Troubleshoot prior to shakedown, post refit.  

C15 Wind instrument NF, likely sender or wiring.  ***UNDERWAY***

• B&G Wireless N2K wind sensor purchased to be installed May 2024.   Bluetooth deck sender installed may 2024, masthead sensor to be paired and installed, poss sept 2024

C16 PFD inspection ***RECTIFIED***

• PFDs are in excellent condition.   Ocean systems 150N harness with UML mk5 autoinflators,

C17 Nav lights not tested ***RECTIFIED***

• March 2023 aqua signal 40 Nav lights are in working order.  
• 2nm Hella LED nav lights purchased for upgrade.

C18 Hull Corrosion/Paint
C19 Boom Gooseneck requires nylon washer.  ***RECTIFIED***

• May 2024 undersized gooseneck bolt replaced with 7/16" , SS load washer installed.  gooseneck greased, inspected, etc.

C-20 Genoa furler bar bent, straighten. *** RECTIFIED ***

• Furler rebuilt and bent parts replaced with new.

C-21 Service Winches

C-22 Replace rubber winch buttons.
