Profurl rebuild
Components Required
Disassembly/Reassembly
Prior Posts/working notes.
- Document disassembly better than I did.
- heat the aluminum drum/swivel housings in a warm oven to expand a bit, and the new bearing will drop right in with a gentle push and tap.
- Make sure you have large circlip pliers, both opening and closing types. Don't try to do this job without.
- Fabricate an approprite press to install the new seals. I cut a 3" picee of plastic pipe that was somewhere around 55mm ID and used my bench vise as a press.
- Reassemble with lanolin or tefgel on all fasteners. I was spared any issues but others have struggled with siezed and stripped fasteners.

In addition to 8 GEBO deck hatches and 4 GEBO portlights, Alubat installed 4 fixed deck lights, and 6 fixed hull lights recessed into the topsides. The skylights were badly crazed by UV exposure.
The material required for the fixed deck lights is 8mm thick cast acrylic, 2074 grey tint,
- 2ea 8mm, 12.5"X 81"
- 2 ea 12mm, 22"X 28"
- 1 cartridge, DOW 795, Black.

Prior posts/workng notes.
For the hull topsides, (THANKS MICHELE and LJS!) On the 43, the topsides acrylic is 10mm thick, on the 435 the opening is 6.5" high X 19.5L.
Bedding aboard
Working notes.
Update - May
A "full" fitted sheet set will work very well for the forward double berth without alteration. I found this out when I visitied Kennia the sewing lady in Willemstadt. I had trimmed the mattress-topper to the same shape as the berth, and carted it, the sheet set, and both mattress sections to her shop, and we laid it out on the floor (barely space in either the car or the shop) and we made the beds, only to discover that there was no work for her to do. She laughed at me...
I did not resolve the approach to the aft cabins, but the materials to do so are aboard.
UPDATE March 25 2024
Purchased two mattress toppers and some sheet sets in Miami.
Original Post
The logistics involved with getting materials to Curacao, combined with the ‘build/buy’ decision, prompted me posting on a FB group, looking for ideas around bedding. Great responses. There are a number of things to consider, including the need for Lee cloths(which are in place) and the ease of bed making. (More difficult in aft cabins).

Notes
From Michele Lee Frost- thanks!
Hi sure…so roughly 185cm on the aft and 195cm on forward…but I think here is where we may differ: I don’t have a V berth. I just measured the forward for a Froli system and it’s not a V
Pre made king sheets to start. Mainstays by Walmart a recommendation.
Mattress topper for main cabin at least.
The larger aft cabin berth might benefit from a mattress topper with a sheet made from a fitted duvet cover. This would be easier to make and un make, and could be set aside (rolled up) if Lee cloths were required.
